Lark Harbour, Corner Brook

Our last big adventure on THE ROCK before heading for the ferry. It was totally incredible. Arrived in Corner Brook around 1. Took a drive along the Bay of Islands to this awesome spot on the Gulf of St Lawrence. It doesn't get any better than this. We were happy to get our truck back this morning and lucky to have had only one flat tire on the rental. Our ferry sails tomorrow around 6:30 if it is on schedule. It will be after midnight when we arrive at Cape Breton. Could have used two more weeks here. We'll just have to come back.

Bell Island

A 20 min. ferry ride to Bell Island and a visit to a underground iron ore mine. Didn't have the time to explore the island, the home of 2700 people but really enjoyed what we saw.

Education time: Only land attack during WWII was a loading pier for iron ore torpedoed by the Germans. Germans sank two Canadian ships in the harbor with the loss of many lives.

Cape Spear

We are at the furthest east point of Canada. How about that? The wave action is phenomenal. When they say "The roar of the sea"....well this is it.

Does this look like a Dodge 3/4 ton? You are right. It's a Pontiac GrandPrix. We have had a little technical difficultly. Left the truck in Grand Falls-Windsor and will pick it up(hopefully) when we go back through on Tuesday.

A totally awesome B&B. You would have loved it G & D. The only bad thing was we only had one night. Who could ask for more with a view and hospitality second to none. They served us an excellent cod and chicken supper (no restaurants in the village).

If you want rock, water, fishing villages and more of the same, then this is the place for you. It is so hard to explain. Very beautiful. We are loving it.
